As years in school and class periods gave structure to traditional education, what advances study in the University of the World model is a structure set forth in a student Learning Vision and Learning Plan. The Learning Vision illustrate’s the student’s current status and where they hope their education will take them. Each plan is developed by each student as their admissions document. The plan then outlines the path from the place the student is at on entering to the international standard specified by graduation, outlining how skill competencies will be achieved. For each competency, a certificate is the benchmark to measure accumulation of degree credit. Upon admission with a Learning Plan, a student is introduced to Learning Classes. In their classes, student work is peer-reviewed while faculty will advise and oversee student interactions to ensure academic quality. Through the accumulation of Certificates (that prove competency) and completion of a Thesis, the student earns a degree.
